The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

THE NEXT BIG THING BLOG HOP

What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way for readers to discover authors new to them. I hope you’ll find new-to-you authors whose works you enjoy. On this stop on the blog hop, you’ll find a bit of information on me and one of my books and links to four other authors you can explore!

Thanks to fellow author Sommer Marsden for inviting me to participate in this event. You can click the following link to learn more about Sommer and her work. Website: http://sommermarsden.blogspot.com

In this blog hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered ten questions about our book or work-in–progress (giving you a sneak peek). We’ve also included some behind-the-scenes information about how and why we write what we write–the characters, inspirations, plotting and other choices we make. I hope you enjoy it!

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

1: What is the working title of your book?

The Last Feather

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

I wish I could remember! The idea came to me while on a skype call with Remittance Girl…more than two years ago! I started actively writing on it this past spring.  I think it boiled down to this: What would it be like to be immortal? How would you stay sane? What if immortality wasn’t natural to you and you were trapped in an eternal existence?

3. What genre does your book come under?

Well, if Erotic Drama were a genre, it would be that. So, in the absence of that, I guess it would be listed as Erotic Fiction.

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

My cast of characters is rather large, due to the arc of the storyline.  But, to touch on the majors, I think I’d like to see what Jewel Staite could do with my main character, Kaori Momoi as the elderly woman who guides her through an awakening and Emma Watson to play the pivotal mortal on her quest.

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Brigid is one sacrificial fire away from ending her 1100 year existence, but can she destroy a woman’s career and dreams to do it?

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

This book is a work in process, but I hope to submit it to an independent publisher.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Still writing, and I’m about nine months in, but there have been some…well….distractions.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I’m not sure if I would compare it to anything, to be honest. It’s not a romance, per se, though there is some in it, and it’s not erotica either. It’s one of those books that really doesn’t fit into a mold.

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I’ve always loved the image and concept of a phoenix. The idea came to me in my own time of rebirth and renewal.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

The story spans 1100 years of history, takes place in Imperial Japan, the Ottoman Empire, North American and ends in England. With no other superhuman power but the inability to die Brigid uses the only resource at her disposal; her body.

Below you will find authors who will be joining me by blogging, next Wednesday. Do be sure to bookmark and add them to your calendars for updates on WIPs and New Releases! Happy Writing and Reading!
