The Sun Kissed Me Goodbye
At the end of it all I’ll remember one moment. When Night kissed Day and spread their passion across the sky for all to see. It was “hello” and “where have you been” and “never leave me again” all pressed together. That rejoining that echoes with the worries that it might have never happened.
Their parting broke my heart. I watched, chest seized as love bled into the clouds and painted my skin and yours. I cried into my pillow and couldn’t find the strength to say goodbye. Still you walked out the door and pulled it closed with the quiet finality of the last, slow falling of a rose petal. The sun crested the trees and shone on me face. The warmth delivered me the soft kiss that you couldn’t on that final, brutal morning.
what you do with so few words is stunning,
