The Month of Letters. . .
Thanks to Shanna Germain I’ve decided to take on a challenge for the month of February. The challenge has been issued by Mary Robinette Kowal and I think it’s rather an interesting one.
I have a simple challenge for you.
- In the month of February, mail at least one item through the post every day it runs. Write a postcard, a letter, send a picture, or a cutting from a newspaper, or a fabric swatch.
- Write back to everyone who writes to you. This can count as one of your mailed items.
I’m going to take it on. Once I used to write letters all the time. I had a friendship born from a summer visit to friends that lasted seven years, ending when I came out as a lesbian. I had a French penpal in high school. I wrote letters for a few years to a high school crush that evolved into a lovely friendship when we both discovered out proclivities leaned towards same sex relationships. I used to write my sister and mom from college. With the advent of email my habit of sending letters faded away. But I still have some of those letters from way back when.
So we’ll see how this goes. It should be quite interesting and I’m rather looking forward to it. Of course, those that I’m sending letters to might not enjoying having to read my atrocious hand-writing!
Oh! What a lovely idea! Do let us know how many snail-mail replies you get too, won’t you? :o)
I was JUST talking about this with a friend. I LOVE to receive letters, but it rarely happens. I should definitely send more. I’d like to take up the challenge but I think, given that I have two days a week where I barely touch base, it might be too much for me to manage. Shame though. Let us know how you get on.
I would love to do this challenge, but I have a hard enough time remembering to email people. Please keep us (lol) posted. :D
