My (honorary) big sis, Sommer Marsden, tagged me in a meme yesterday.  I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever been memed before, but I knew I’d participate as soon as I saw what it was.  It’s called Lucky Seven and here’s how it works:

The ‘rules’ are: Go to page 7 or 77 of your latest work. Read down to the seventh line and then post online the next seven lines or sentences. Then head off and tag seven more writers.

Sommer pointed out that she’s seen writers post lines from unpubbed works as well as your latest, so I’m going that route.  Mainly because the only things I currently have published are stories in anthologies!   So y’all get a teaser of my current WIP, The Last Feather, that I spent a couple of hours doing a mid-way edit on this morning.

I exhaled. The young woman barely stirred as I untangled us. A chill of guilt writhed in my stomach and I shoved it aside, certain Laia would recover after a good night’s sleep. I ordered room service and showered. Odd as it may seem, I loved the feel of water on my flesh. At the tap on the door I answered naked, retrieved the tray from the startled young man who delivered it, and set it on the table. At least there would be something to eat when she woke hungry.
